What are different error types with EHR?
Errors related with EHR can include diagnostic, treatment, preventative, or other types of errors. Diagnostic errors include error or delay in diagnosis, failure to employ indicated tests, use of outmoded tests or therapy, or failure to act on results of monitoring or testing. Treatment errors include error in the performance of an operation, procedure, or test, error in administering the treatment, error in the dose or method of using a drug, avoidable delay in treatment or in responding to an abnormal test or inappropriate (not indicated) care. Preventative errors include failure to provide prophylactic treatment and inadequate monitoring or follow-up of treatment. Other errors include failure of communication, equipment failure, and other system failure.
